Hennepin Moving Forward With Drainage Issue on Sixth Street

The Village of Hennepin is able to proceed with a drainage issue it’s been trying to resolve for a couple years. The village needed, and obtained, an easement to fix the drainage issue on Sixth Street between Locust and Vine streets, said village engineer Bill Shafer.

The drainage comes from agricultural fields northeast of Hennepin and is only a problem when the ground is frozen, he said.

The project was approved years ago by the village but needed the easement from the property owner, who’s in California, before proceeding with the work, he said.

It’s a fairly small project that he doesn’t think will cost much. He hopes to get the earthwork and basic grading done this fall.
