4th of July Celebration

The Village of Hennepin has the only established July 4th Celebration and Fireworks in Putnam County and is well-known to the residents of several surrounding counties, including LaSalle, Bureau, Marshall and Stark. Hennepin sits on the Illinois River, with easy access from I-180 and Routes 71 & 26 as well as river access to boaters up and down the river.

The celebration is held on 4th of July annually. Through the support of local organizations and businesses we are able to provide a wonderful atmosphere for our growing crowds. A small town with a big heart, Hennepin attracts people from all over for this event. We have numbered between 4,000 – 6,000 in attendance with our line ups of entertainment and activities.

From a mid-week DJ show to bringing in national acts like the "Stars of the Legends Show" featuring "The Rat Pack" (Frank/Sammy/Dean), Elvis, Tom Jones and Neil Diamond, Phil Dirt and Dozers, "Souled Out" and most recently "Slow Tuesday", you will be guaranteed an event with awesome entertainment. You will also enjoy a showcase of talent by local groups such as the Putnam County Panteras, Little Panteras, Marshall, Putham and Stark County Show Choir.

Our event has seen special appearances in the past by the monster trucks and crews of "Grave Digger" and "Freedom Force". You just never know what this event is going to bring!

We always have a full day of events planned from noon to midnight. Noon kicks off the "Cruise-In" car show, and such things in the past as Bocce Ball Tournament, Bags Tournament, Skeeball, Inflatable Rides, Old Fashioned Kids Games, children's IL Chip ID Kits, Bingo, Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, Beer Garden, pork chop dinner in the shelter, and a variety of food vendors to tempt your palette!

The highlight of the evening is the spectacular fireworks show! The amazing setting of the fireworks being shot off from across the Illinois River is a sight you won't want to miss. Whether by boat or by land, it is a top notch fireworks show!

This spectacular event is held to promote and support local organizations like Hennepin Fire and Rescue, Putnam County FFA Alumni Scholarship Fund, Relay For Life, Girl Scouts, etc. Come out and enjoy a real down to earth, small town town celebration you will never forget!
