Fire Damages Mid American Growers Equipment
A fire Sunday night at Mid-American Growers destroyed several small tractors and golf-type carts.
Standard fire chief Michael Skowera said a call was received at 11:39 p.m. from a night watchman at Mid-American Growers, who said there was smoke in the company’s shop.
Skowera responded directly to the scene, arrived at 11:44 p.m, saw a fire in the shop area and asked a Putnam County dispatcher to page firefighters about a structure fire.
“This activated Auto-Aid from Granville and Cedar Point fire departments,” Skowera wrote in a press release issued this morning.
The fire was under control by 12:49 a.m. today. Skowera cleared the scene at 1:55 a.m., according to the press release.
Further investigation is ongoing, but it appears the fire started in a “lawn-type tractor that was in the shop,” Skowera wrote.
