Floating Classroom to Deliver Learning Opportunity

A floating classroom will visit area communities later this month.

The Living Lands and Waters floating classroom will be in Utica from Oct. 22 to Oct. 24, in Hennepin on Oct. 25 and in Lacon on Oct. 26.

Living Lands and Waters, headquartered in East Moline, is an environmental organization focused on cleaning up rivers and was established by Chad Pregracke in 1998.

Now Living Lands and Waters is branching out, educating high school students about clean water and conservation.

“We built the new floating classroom last year,” Living Lands and Waters programs manager Tammy Becker said.

Becker said they try to tie  workshops to lessons the students are learning in school.
