Hennepin's 37th Annual 4th of July Celebration

This year’s celebration promises to bring more activities for everyone, young and old alike.

The morning of the 4th will be “Movin’ for Music” 5K run/Walk, followed with a pancake and sausage breakfast sponsored by the Putnam County Music Boosters at the Hennepin Pool.

The Bocce ball tournament will begin at noon with sign up at 11:00 and the bags tournament will begin at 1:30 with sign up at 12:30. These events will be at Walter Durley Boyle Park.

The Hennepin Fire and Rescue will be holding registration at noon with the water fights beginning at 12:30. This is open for all age groups.

Bingo will be held in the shelter sponsored by the Putnam County Community Center from 2:00 – 4:00.


The Cruise-In will be held at Ernest Bassi Park from noon – 4:00. There will be vintage cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles. Music will be playing and food and beverages will be available for purchase.

There will be inflatables for the children from 2-8 along with skeeball until midnight.

Food vendors will be offering a variety of food (tacos, pasta fritta, corn dogs and ice cream) along with the Putnam County FFA Scholarship Committee serving their annual pork chop dinner.

The Panteras and Little Panteras will perform at 5:15. Magician Rob Thompson will entertain you from 5:30 – 6:30 on the Courthouse Stage. The 2013 Citizen of the Year will be awarded at 6:30.


The band “303” will be the entertainment this year, covering well known rock anthems from classic 70’s to today’s heavy hitters. Band members include Paul and Mark Williams, Rick Delphi, Rick Piscia and Gary Woitynek. Mark Dudek will make a special appearance. They will be playing from 7:00-9:00 and resume at 10:00 until midnight.


This year’s fireworks are expected to be one of the best in the area. With generous donations recently received, this year’s fireworks extravaganza will be second to none.
