Catfish Tourney Attracts 30 Boats to Hennepin
Larry Maltas and Don Paulak won Sunday’s Illinois Valley Catfish Trail event over the weekend, reeling in a five-catfish limit weighing 34.54 pounds.
Out of 30 teams entered the Side Tracks tourney, based from Hennepin, only four did not weigh in five fish. Two teams caught four, one weighed in three and one team didn’t having any weighed. The top 23 teams all caught 22 pounds or more.
Second place went to Bryan Espy and Ken Luttrell (34.45 pounds) and third to Max Actis and John Dalzot/ Molly (33.44).
Espy and Luttrell currently are leading in the standings, with Mark and Frank Sanders second, “Team Hillbilly” third, Mike Crickman and Buck Emmerling fourth and Randy Templeton and Mike Flaherty fourth. Twelve pounds — 148½ for Espy/Luttrell and 136½ for Templeton/Flaherty — separate the top five.
The Happy’s Super Service tournament is at 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 from Barto Landing, Spring Valley.
