Prizes and drawings, carnival and casino games, pizza and desserts, and lots of fun await Putnam County High School juniors and seniors and their dates at this year’s post-prom Afterglow on May 10. Hosted by Putnam County Rotary and made possible by many community donations, Afterglow provides students with safe, substance-free entertainment to continue the celebration of their prom-night experience. Students not attending prom are also welcome to attend.

The event is free of charge and runs from 10:30 p.m. May 10 to 2:30 a.m. May 11, capped off by drawings and an auction. Everyone attending will receive free T-shirts and souvenirs.

Prizes which will be given in drawings or bid on using play money won throughout the evening, will include a 24-inch flat-screen HD TV, Nooks, iPad speaker systems and accessories, wireless headphones, digital cameras and underwater video recorders, a Wi-Fi Blu-ray player, a wireless keyboard and printer, a dorm-size fridge and microwave, and many gift packages which include restaurant coupons, movie and bowling passes, gift cards, snack-loaded coolers and more.

Parents are encouraged to allow their students to attend and stay for the entire event, so they can be included in the fun as well as the prizes.

Parents are also asked to not host any competing parties or events which might draw students away from Afterglow and to discourage students from making such plans.
