Pink Flamingos Help Students Raise Funds

Yards throughout Putnam County may have some interesting decorations in the coming days, as the Putnam County High School Band and Chorus place plastic flamingos in unsuspecting residents’ yards.

The music department students sold “flockings” as a fundraiser for a scheduled trip to New York City. The flockings, anonymously sent in most cases, also will be taken down by the students.

This particular flocking took place in Putnam County sheriff’s deputy Josh Randall’s yard in Hennepin.

While surprised about the flocking, Randall said he was happy the money from the practical joke will go to a good cause, and help the music students fund their trip to New York.
