PC Senior Citizens to Receive Poinsettias

Once again Putnam County Rotary’s sleigh bells will be announcing the arrival of Christmas poinsettias for senior citizens throughout Putnam County, from 8:30 a.m. to noon – or until the sleighs are empty — on Saturday, Dec. 10.

Rotarians, with the help of PCHS Interact members and volunteers, will deliver some 700 plants to seniors age 66 and over.

People who recently moved, just turned 66, want to confirm they are on the delivery list, or need to provide special delivery instructions are asked to contact Rotarian Tom Simmons at 815-339-6100 or email TJSimm@Dave-World.net by Dec. 3.

Those expecting delivery on Dec. 10 are asked to be home or to leave directions for delivery, as the plants cannot be left outdoors.

In Senachwine Township, including Putnam and Lake Thunderbird, seniors age 66 and older may call Pastor Terry Broady by Dec. 1 at 815-437-2292, to reserve a plant for pick up on Dec. 10 at the Putnam Christian Church. Delivery will also be available for those unable to arrange for pick up.

Poinsettias will be available only for those Senachwine Township seniors who call to reserve by Dec. 3.

The Poinsettia Project has been an annual project of the local Rotary Club for 42 years, all due to the continuing generosity of the Van Wingerden family and in more recent years, the owners and staff of Color Point, who annually donate the plants and join PC Rotary and PCHS Interact in wishing all senior citizens a happy, healthy holiday season.
