Decrease in Hennepin Tax Bills
Taxpayers in Hennepin will be happy: Their tax bills went down.
Mayor Kevin Coleman of Hennepin was billed a total of $2,281, a one-year drop of $150.
Most taxing bodies in Putnam County slashed their tax rates, led by the village of Hennepin, where the tax rate dropped a whopping 27 percent. Coleman’s line-item share of taxes to Hennepin fell from $129 last year to $95 this year.
What happened? Putnam County schools issued a correction to last year’s bond issue, a change that generally means lower aggregate rates for some years to come. The county’s tax base climbed, as well, because the second ethanol plant went online.
